The Upper Peninsula Laboratory, located in Houghton, Michigan, provides programs and laboratory services including Potable Water Testing, Automated Water Chemistry, Molecular Epidemiology, and Clinical Microbiology. Clinical testing includes diagnostic serological testing for Syphilis, screening for Chlamydia, and analysis of clinical cultures for local area physicians. Chlamydia screening is presently provided for local health departments and designated screening sites.

The MDCH Houghton Laboratory utilizes the latest advances in technology, including Pulse Field Electrophoresis and DNA probes.  It offers entrepreneurs and businesses not only testing services but also training and collaborative development of new methods and systems.
